Hermann Dörre
A Photographer by Passion
Born in the automotive city of Rastatt, Hermann Dörre discovered his passion for photography at an early age. As a student, he regularly contributed photographs to the Badisches Tagblatt, laying the foundation for his professional career. He began as an assistant to renowned BFF photo designer Jochen Heine in Karlsruhe, where he gained valuable experience in the automotive and cosmetics industries—working for clients such as Bosch, L’Oréal, and Renault.
After moving to Munich, he completed a formal photography apprenticeship in the in-house photo department of the technology company Rohde & Schwarz. This was followed by assistantships with acclaimed fashion and still-life photographers, as well as positions in publishing, industry, and multimedia.
Since 1996, Hermann Dörre has run his own studio. In 2000, he embraced digital photography with the introduction of his first digital camera—making his studio one of the first in Munich to make the switch. In 2012, he established a ground-level drive-in studio in northern Munich, offering 300 square meters of space, conveniently located on the border of Schwabing-Freimann and Milbertshofen-Am Hart.
Hermann Dörre is married and has a son. In addition to his photographic work, he is deeply committed to training the next generation of photographers. He serves on the examination board of the Chamber of Crafts, was a long-time board member of the PIC Association (www.pic-verband.de), and is an active BFF Professional member of the German Association of Freelance Photographers and Film Creators (www.bff.de).
